I had the pleasure of dining at the Small Barn Restaurant in Temecula, and I must say that it was an exciting addition to the area’s restaurant scene. The restaurant offers a casual yet elevated dining experience, and the modern bistro is beautifully designed with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is inspired by classic bistro preparations found worldwide, featuring locally produced ingredients, which showcases the bounty of the region.
Small Barn’s location is remarkable. It sits on the historic Knott Family Homestead site, where the early 1900s landmark building has been restored with great care. The restaurant has maintained the original residential scale of the building and features extensive outdoor seating, including the large wrap-around porch, covered patio, and fireside lounge seating. It’s an inviting gathering place that welcomes everyone and encourages socializing and discovery.
I had a fantastic dining experience at Small Barn, with its beautiful outdoor dining patio in the heart of Old Town Temecula. The atmosphere was very casual with a sand floor and wooden tables. We started with the Caesar salad with bacon and blue cheese, followed by splitting the 16oz rib eye steak with au gratin potatoes. The food was excellent, and the wines were fantastic. The service was exceptional, and the manager, Vincent, and his team could not have been any nicer. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and I will be back and often.

In my opinion, Small Barn is one of the best restaurants in Temecula. The restaurant just celebrated its two-year anniversary and has quickly become known for its wine-country coastal cuisine. The restaurant’s thoughtful ingredients with nuances of Asian-inspired flavors are impressive, and the exclusive selection of in-house wines and vibrant cocktails is fantastic. The Barn Burner and Sage Advice cocktails are two signature cocktails worth trying. The Barn Burner is a delicious Mezcal cocktail with a subtle hint of spice from the Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur mixed with pineapple, lime, and aquafaba. Overall, I highly recommend Small Barn for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Temecula.
